About John Luebbert
Hi there! Grab a cup of coffee and let's get to know each other... I grew up in Central California. My family lived in Orangevale until I was 7. We then, in 1972, made the big move... across the river to Folsom! It was great growing up in a small town. There were approximately 15,000 people in Folsom and almost half the populace were inmates at Folsom Prison! The spring little league parade proceeded down the street I lived on. I can remember my mom waving from the porch. We knew our neighbors, store owners, bankers and waitresses. It was a great place and time to be a kid. Growing up, I worked many jobs before finally settling into what I thought was my career. I worked as a Project Manager and draftsman for a few structural steel companies. My favorite, and most nerve-wracking project was Raley Field, home of the Sacramento River Cats. The next time you catch a ball game, look up! You'll see joists and girders supporting the upper floors and roof. I did the fabrication and erection drawings. Sometime around 2005, I was laid off. I was hired back after a few months until 2009, when I was laid off again. This time it was for keeps. My wife and I had purchased our first home in 2007. Now that we were down to one paycheck, we were struggling. We decided to short sell our home. We were fortunate in that the people that purchased the home as an investment appreciated how well we cared for it and we became tenants. A few months later, our original realtor called to check in. I shared that I didn't think my job was coming back and I was looking into starting over. I had always been attracted to counseling and was considering going back to school. She then asked if I had ever thought of getting into real estate. I answered honestly - "Nope! I never saw myself as a salesman." She replied "It's not about sales. It's about relationships and helping people. It also helps to be good at numbers." She continued, "You're good with people and with numbers. You ought to give it a shot." I was happy to be licensed in 2010. The first few years were very difficult as we were still recovering from the crash. As stressful as our short sale was, I was now grateful when I would have the opportunity to represent homeowners going through a short sale or foreclosure themselves. I had firsthand experience of not only the endless paperwork but the emotional side as well. The next couple of years saw my business grow but life tends to give you challenges. I found myself spending more and more time with my aging folks. As their general needs increased, and with more frequent doctors and hospital visits, my production took a hit. I don't regret a thing. Spending that time with them was invaluable and being there as they passed on was something I'll always hold dear to my heart. This experience also opened my eyes to what seniors sometimes have to deal with. I found myself not only as their advocate but their neighbors as well at their assisted living facility. I also made contacts at the VA that had my dad's (and all the vets) best interests at heart. So here I am 14 years later. I have helped a lot of people and done a lot of math! I've learned that it comes down to what I've always known: Doing the right thing. My father was a Marine who was awarded two Purple Hearts in the Pacific Theater in WWII. He raised me to be honest; to defend those in need; and to work hard. I've been an advocate for not only my folks, but other family members, veterans, seniors and my clients. Today, I'm grateful to be helping homeowners in Sacramento transition from one home to the next while providing solid communication, experience and understanding to make sure they achieve their real estate goals. I'm also happy to pass along bad dad jokes as we could use a laugh or smile from time to time! I love living in Sacramento! Let me know if you find yourself at the Nugget or Bel Air in Greenhaven, stop and say "hi." I'd love to buy you a coffee and get to know you.
