My advice is to have open dialogue with your lender and your Realtor even prior to starting your home search. Whether you are working to purchase your first home or you are moving up, there are important things to consider such as current economy and interest rates, market timing, potential grant funds for first time buyers and more.

There are certain repairs and maintenance items you should address prior to putting your home on the market but one of the least expensive (but most important!) things to do is to clean. Take a look at your home from the lens of a buyer...start at the front door and walk thru your home. Is your front door clean? How about the ceiling fan blades and window sills? Touch up baseboards with paint if necessary and replace old caulk in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Over my 20+ years, I have worked with clients with very diverse needs. I have helped many buyers & sellers from out-of-state. I am knowledgeable about the title process and can help if it is a complicated situation or there may be items to clear in order to obtain clear title.

I worked with a family moving from out of state who wanted to build a new home. Meeting their move-in date was very important so I helped to facilitate their new construction choices and kept regular video updates of the construction progress. Working closely with their builder, we were able to get them moved in before school started.

I have always had an interest in real estate, even though I obtained my degree in accounting. I do find that my business and accounting background are very helpful in this business. A seller's net proceeds estimate or a buyer's cash to closing are extremely important calculations and my accounting background certainly helps to provide those estimates with confidence.

I enjoy continuing my education. I hold a number of real estate specific certifications beyond my BSBA in Accounting. I also am a recent graduate of the SPARK academy which focuses on new construction and development.
