Make sure your agent is truly an expert in your market place. Make sure they have all the tech savvy needed to fully expose your home on the internet. Make sure they have great knowledge of the agreement of sale and have excellent negotiation skills.

I recently helped several older retired veterans downsize. I like to thank them for their service to the country and hear their stories about their active duty service. He told me he would be happy to bring me aboard but that I should not quit my full time job as it was a hard transition to full time commission sales. This was a wise suggestion as I passed the tests very easily but it took me a year to get my feet under me. By the end of my first year I was selling more part time then the full time agents in my office. I quit my other job and the rest is history. I have enjoyed 48 years of full time real estate sales and annually rank in the top 1% of sales of all agents.
