About Houston Taylor
A successful real-estate relationship begins with trust, but
trust is strengthened when an agent understands the property, the process, and
the people involved. Houston D. Taylor enters real estate as a new REALTORA(R)
with an unusually broad professional foundation: thirty-six years in
construction and engineering-related work, military engineering experience,
business ownership, pastoral leadership, counseling education, and extensive
service to families and communities. This combination enables Taylor to approach
real estate as both a technical and human responsibility. He can help clients
consider the physical realities of a property while also recognizing the
personal, financial, and family circumstances that shape a buying or selling
decision.
Taylor's housing-industry background began through
engineering, construction, and the building trades. His career includes
residential and commercial construction, facilities management, maintenance,
supervision, administration, and hands-on project work. He served for four
years in the U.S. Naval Submarine Force with an engineering group, an
experience that developed discipline, technical awareness, accountability, and
respect for careful procedures. Over the course of his construction career, he
launched and operated three businesses, including Able Heat, Air, and
Electrical LLC and Houston Taylor Heating, Air, and Electrical. These companies
required him to manage operations, communicate with clients and vendors,
supervise personnel, train technicians, and coordinate work across multiple
trades.
Taylor's licensing history further illustrates the depth of
his experience. He held a master mechanical HVAC and refrigeration license for
more than twenty years, beginning in 2000, and a master electrical contractor's
license for more than twenty years, beginning in 1995. Both licenses expired in
2020. He also obtained a state builder's contractor's license in 2005; that
license is currently inactive. Although Taylor is beginning his professional
real-estate practice, his past licensing and construction responsibilities give
him a working understanding of the systems and components that influence a
property's condition, functionality, maintenance needs, and potential future
costs. This background can be especially valuable to buyers evaluating a home
and to sellers deciding which repairs, improvements, or disclosures deserve
attention before listing.
Taylor's construction experience includes the complete
development of a five-thousand-square-foot church facility in South
Mississippi. As the primary contractor and administrative representative, he
oversaw the project from start to finish, coordinating paid workers and
volunteers and managing a broad range of light-commercial construction
activities. The project included carpentry, electrical work, drainage,
plumbing, concrete, steel fabrication and welding, roofing, parapet walls,
entrance porches, decks, ramps, landscaping, a commercial parking lot,
fire-alarm systems, and audio-visual systems. This work required planning,
scheduling, quality oversight, resource coordination, and the ability to bring
different teams together around a shared objective. For real-estate clients,
that experience translates into a practical ability to ask useful questions, recognize
the importance of workmanship, and track details that can otherwise be
overlooked.
His construction and ministry work also extended
internationally. In 2013, Taylor managed and funded the construction of a
church in the Philippines and subsequently led three mission trips connected
with the project. He coordinated medical missionary outreach and evangelistic
events, led teams, and helped establish an enduring community presence. His
work in the Philippines and continuing relationships with churches in the
Philippines and Nigeria reflect his ability to operate across cultural,
geographic, and organizational boundaries. These experiences strengthened his
adaptability, communication skills, and commitment to service-qualities that
are equally important when working with buyers and sellers from varied
backgrounds.
Taylor's leadership experience is not limited to
construction. Since 2011, he has served as the founder and chief executive
officer of Obtaining Inward Light Ministries, currently known as Lakeview
Seventh Day Church, and from 2015 he has served as a senior pastor. He has also
planted and pastored Lakeview, Obtaining Inward Light / Seventh Day Baptist
Church of Saucier. His ministry responsibilities have included administration,
public speaking, community relations, volunteer leadership, discipleship,
benevolence, family and individual crisis care, visitation, funeral
coordination, prayer ministry, and the development of church leaders. He has
organized youth programs, prayer chains, Bible studies, evangelistic outreach,
and social-media communication. His ministry has reached audiences
internationally, including through more than five hundred sermons published on
YouTube.
In 2025, Taylor served as a hospice chaplain in Biloxi,
Mississippi, before resigning to pursue doctoral studies. That work reinforced
his ability to listen attentively, communicate with compassion, maintain
appropriate professional boundaries, and support individuals and families
during significant transitions. His pastoral counseling background also helps
him recognize that real estate decisions are rarely only about buildings. A
move may represent a first home, a change in family circumstances, a retirement
decision, an investment, a relocation, or the beginning of a new chapter.
Taylor's approach is therefore grounded in respect, discretion, and a
willingness to understand the client's goals before recommending a course of
action.
Taylor's education supports this client-centered approach.
He earned a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University from
2024 to 2025, completing the degree with a 3.52 GPA. From 2020 to 2024, he
completed a Bachelor of Science in Religion program with a 3.87 GPA and five
bachelor's degrees in religion-related disciplines, including Biblical and
Theological Studies, Apologetics, and Christian Leadership. He is currently
enrolled at Liberty University in a Doctor of Education program in Christian
Leadership, specializing in Church Revitalization, with studies extending from
2025 through 2028. His additional education and training include coursework in
electrical technology, automotive studies, engineering, and U.S. Navy schools,
along with construction certifications and pastoral counseling credentials. He
also holds Board Certified Master Mental Health Coach, Board Certified Advanced
Life Coach, and Board Certified Professional Life Coach credentials through the
IBCC.
For buyers, Taylor offers a perspective shaped by decades of
work with construction systems, building projects, maintenance concerns,
budgets, teams, and project administration. He can help clients think carefully
about a property's condition, ask informed questions, identify issues that may
warrant professional inspection, and weigh immediate needs against long-term
goals. For sellers, he offers an understanding of how a property's features,
improvements, presentation, and condition may affect buyer perception and
marketability. He can also bring organization, communication, and steady
follow-through to the preparation and negotiation process.
Houston D. Taylor's transition into real estate is new, but
his preparation is longstanding. His career demonstrates that he is accustomed
to responsibility, complex projects, leadership, confidential conversations,
and service to others. Buyers and sellers deserve an agent who will listen
closely, communicate directly, and treat their property and priorities with
care. With his construction expertise, pastoral experience, advanced education,
and commitment to ethical service, Taylor is prepared to become that trusted
partner for clients navigating one of life's most significant decisions.
