Gretchen Merritt

GRETCHEN MERRITT Having lived her entire life in the Mahoning Valley, Gretchen Merritt knows the value of working for the collective good of the community. Active in numerous civic, education and athletic organizations, she has proudly assumed leadership roles where her skills have been utilized to continue their good work. She is the Social Director for the Canfield Swim Club, Vice President of the Canfield Girls' Basketball Boosters and Secretary of Canfield Cross Country Boosters. She is also a member of the Polka Dot Powerhouse group. As Co-Chair of the Lady Cards Purse Bingo for Canfield Basketball and Co-Chair for Canfield Softball's Ladies Day Out, her organizational skills have been put to good use, allowing those events to become successful in providing additional funding to those organizations. A graduate of Austintown Fitch HS, Gretchen went on to earn her Associate's degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The mother of two daughters--Riley, a senior and Haydyn, a sophomore, both at Canfield High School--she is a strong supporter of both her children's activities and those of her husband, Michael, a teacher at Canfield Village Middle School. She has a keen eye for home improvement projects that increase a home's value and has enjoyed undertaking many such tasks at her own home. In her spare time, Gretchen enjoys exercising and watching softball, cross country and track.
