We met Gilli 10 years ago at an open house and expressed that we were thinking about selling. With changes in our families and the market, we ended up not doing so at the time, but Gilli stuck with us for 10 (!) years, regularly checking in to see if plans had changed, to share properties she thought we might be interested in, and to make sure we knew she was in our corner. We never felt pressured, but we also knew who to go to when we were ready. That time came this past spring, and she kicked it into high gear. His colleague had suggested Gilli as NJ licensed agent so he suggested her to us. Prior to that, we had met several agents going to open houses on our own, but took the recommendation to hire her to help us buy a property we had already seen and liked. We asked for her advice on pricing strategy for our first offer and the advice she gave us was based on her own self-interest of maximizing the buying price. The price she suggested we START at was well above where we ended up. I'm glad we didn't take her advice or we would have paid close to 100,000 or more or walked away from the deal altogether. The price she was suggesting would be the bottom starting point was significantly above what we thought was a fair price. I had to show her other comps in the area to show her where we were coming from and why her suggestion was too high. She also seemed like she didn't even push hard for our final offer. We told her what it was and she said the seller would need us to come up, but when we told her were firm on that number, she called them back and literally less than 5 minutes later, the seller had accepted. It felt like she was just trying to work us for more and not actually representing us and our interest. I don't think she had even presented it yet, when she asked us to increase our price again. We regret hiring her and having to pay the fees. On top of the poor negotiation experience, she also screwed over a very close friend of ours and her colleague. Our friend was supposed to get a referral fee for referring us to her and she not only refused to give it to him, but she also sent him a slew of nasty communications including personally attacking us (the buyers) and trying to tell him that we (the buyers and the referring agent) must not value the friendship with him since we hadn't hired him. As I stated above, he wasn't licensed in NJ and he and his wife are very close friends of ours and were 2 of 36 people we invited to our small wedding abroad. It was ruthless and selfish to our friend and offensive and disappointing to us. All in all, we were greatly disappointed by her negotiation skills, her treatment of us as a client, and by her lack of ethics.

She offered to completely cover the expense of painting and staging the apartment. Gilli came prepared with photographs of previous staging jobs and those looked impressive. When the property came on market, I was very pleased with the results: the description, the photos - everything looked top notch. Gilli conducted dozens of showings and open houses, I lost the count to be honest. She met with prospective buyers on their schedule, sometimes providing multiple showings to the same buyer. ZillowVERIFIED I have bought and sold 4 properties in my lifetime and Gilli was by far the best agent I have worked with. She was responsive and supportive. This was a contingency purchase/sale so a lot of pieces had to fall into place for both transactions to come to fruition. Several issues arose during the process and Gilli came up with creative solutions to keep us moving forward. Unlike other agents I?ve worked with in the past, she did not simply wash her hands of the situations by leaving it to the attorneys resolve. Had that been the case, I am convinced neither transaction would have gone through. When frustrations were getting the better of us she was a calming influence and when other parties were being unreasonable she was supportive when we were ready to ?walk?. Inevitably the agents complain about attorneys and vice versa while the clients (us) are forced to play referee. Not only was that not the case here, my attorney who had not worked with Gilli before actually said ?your agent really earned her money, she was terrific?. I think that says it all.

ZillowVERIFIED Gilli is the reason why the market should do away with realtors, she has a sense of entitlement, pompus and does not value her clients. My experience with Gilli left me asking why sellers still pay these people rediculous amont of money for merely referring customers to a website. Everything we asked for during the process, we were referred to an obsecure website that had no human face behind. Getting documents took forever and we received zero corporation from Gilli. She was very eager to help before we signed the purchase agreement and soon after we were locked in, she was never there for the process. So not get fooled by her initial charming responses...its just a plot to get you hooked and her true colors will come in after she locka you in. Worst experience ever and i would not recommend anyone to use this realtor

She actually contacted us with prospective buyers and we were impressed from the first moment we met by her knowledge of the local market as well as her commitment in selling the unit at a very competitive price. She was actually the only agent we met (out of 6) capable to have a sound strategy to market our unit in order to justify the price in the ball range we were looking for and for this reason we believe she was a terrific selling agent. In terms of performance, she was able to get us an offer after only 1 week of listing in her own company's website (we did not list publicly) and that offer eventually converted in a sale. on top of this, as the negotiations became extensive, we would have never close at a price we felt comfortable without her giving away part of her fee. Despite this (most agents would feel obviously very demotivated when giving away a portion of their fee and therefore not involved as they should), during the process she was always very supportive by timely following-up, always returning the calls when busy with other clients (week-ends included) and giving suggestions based on her solid experience. ZillowVERIFIED When my wife and I wanted to sell our apartment in the St Johns apartment complex in Jersey City, we invited proposals from various realtors. We were simultaneously engaged in the process of buying a home in Morris County. Our realtor there was excellent but she did not do any business herself in Hudson County, which is why we looked for another realtor for the sale of our apartment. After narrowing down our search to an agent from Weichert and Gilli Axel (with her partner Marc) from The Icon Group @ RE/MAX Villa we decided to go with Gilli. Our decision was based on the real estate knowledge they displayed of our specific geographic location, our particular apartment complex, market research and comparables they came prepared with. Gilli and Marc's open and dynamic personalities helped clinch the deal. Boy, were we glad we went with Gilli! She came in with an interior designer and made small and subtle but very telling design differences to our apartment. Within 2 days she arranged multiple showings of our apartment.
