I'm Gena Sharpe -- a North Alabama native, a mom, a wife, a grandmother, and the Realtor known around here as The Chocolate Gravy Agent. I've helped more than 600 families with buying and/or selling homes so far - and I am always excited to help more. Just a little background about me. I was born in Huntsville and raised between here and Fayetteville, TN (right across the state line). I've now lived on the Alabama side for over twenty years. My husband is an Air Force Veteran and works for a defense contractor that supports the Missile Defense Agency. Both of my daughters went to school at Madison County High School and one is also a Realtor and the other a Physical Therapist (just graduated and finally off the Momma Payroll!). I have four grandchildren (who are not spoiled at all, ha). And three grand dogs (who most definitely are). I'm not really good at any hobbies, except shoe shopping and going to the beach and eating chocolate (I was raised on chocolate gravy and biscuits). Helping people sell/buy homes keeps me busy. It's definitely a ton of work - but never boring (there was the appointment where I got horned in the rear by a nasty little goat)! I'm known for being honest, responsive, and a steady voice during the stressful parts of buying or selling. My goal is simple: make the process easier, smoother, and even a little fun. If you want a Realtor who treats you like family and puts your goals first, I'd love to help.

FAQ
1. What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Step one: get yourself pre-approved — because shopping for a house without a budget is like walking into a Southern buffet with no plate.
In Huntsville and Madison, great homes get snatched up faster than church-lady banana pudding, so speed really matters.
I guide my buyers through the whole journey — neighborhoods, schools, tornado quirks, traffic secrets, where the best biscuits are — all the things only a born-and-raised North Alabama girl can tell you.
My goal? No stress, no surprises… just finding the right home without losing your mind (or your sweet tea).
2. What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Start by pricing your home where the market — not your emotions — says it should be. Bless its heart, even the cutest house won’t sell if it’s priced like it’s made of gold bricks.
Next, give it a glow-up: declutter, clean, and let me help stage it so buyers walk in and say, “Well now, this feels like home.”
In Huntsville and Madison, buyers move fast, so you need an agent who markets aggressively, negotiates confidently, and answers the phone quicker than sweet tea disappears in July.
3. What types of clients have you worked with?
Oh goodness — just about everybody! I’ve helped first-time buyers who show up with a notebook, three highlighters, and 47 questions (and I adore them). I’ve worked with seasoned sellers who’ve bought and sold more homes than I’ve cooked pans of chocolate gravy.
I help military families racing the clock, out-of-state folks trying to figure out how to pronounce “Lickskillet,” investors hunting for the next great rental, and locals who just want someone they can trust.
If you’re a human looking for a home in North Alabama, chances are I’ve worked with someone just like you — and I’d love to help you too.
4. Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
One of my favorite recent transactions was helping a sweet family relocate to North Alabama — bless their hearts, they’d never even stepped foot here before. They told me, “Gena… we don’t know a soul, we don’t know the neighborhoods, and we can’t pronounce half the towns on the map.” (Fair. “Lickskillet” does sound made up.)
So I became their boots-on-the-ground. I FaceTimed them through showings.
We found the perfect home, negotiated a great deal, handled everything remotely, and when they finally arrived on move-in day, they said, “It already feels like home — and we haven’t even unpacked.”
Helping people fall in love with North Alabama… that’s the part of this job I’ll always be fond of.
5. How did you get started in Real Estate?
Honestly, it kind of just happened. I was doing marketing work for a commercial real estate firm and decided that I needed my license. Then I realized I had a passion for residential real estate. I was always helping friends and family search for homes just because I enjoyed it. I told myself I would try it out and if I hated it, I could sell one house and make back the money I had invested to get my license and then go lick my failure wounds. Well, 600 contracts later, here I am.
6. Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
Yes ma’am, yes sir — I sure do. I’m constantly training, studying, and sharpening my skills so my clients get more than just a friendly face with a key.
I stay educated on negotiation, pricing strategy, marketing, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes a sale look “easy” (even though it rarely is).
I also keep a close eye on our North Alabama market — school zones, new construction, backroads, traffic patterns, neighborhood quirks… the whole biscuit.
My clients get the benefit of both real-world experience and ongoing training — and a mishmash of sweetness and straight talk.

Our Real Estate professional Gena Sharpe has been an amazing part of our new home acquisition process, which has taken over 18 months to finally finding the perfect home. She also provided amazing support in selling our current home to make. way for the new home purchase... I love Gena's ability to work with very little input other than "please find us the perfect home." Gena thank you for always taking the time to answer all of our questions, and helping make a stressful process a wonderful experience... Gena Sharpe you're a "Rock Star"...
