ZillowVERIFIED My husband and I were inexperienced homebuyers. Ed Purgason led us by the hand and made sure everything was accomplished in a timely manner.Ed was very much in tune with what our specific goals were, even when we lost sight of them ourselves. For example, the first property (for a retirement home) we were looking at was an emotional purchase for us. We were vested in getting this property even if it meant significantly overbidding. He understood and recommended offering a significant due diligence amount and upping the asking price, as we were "in it to win it". Even then, we were outbid, but only because another buyer made an all cash offer. We were only outbid by $900, so Ed had been really been spot on regarding his recommended offer.The next property we bid on, my husband and I decided to overbid. Ed reviewed the property and recommended that, upon closer review, we withdraw the offer. He thought the property was not worth what we wished to pay for it, and would not suit our purposes (i.e. rental property investment). Ed then identified a home from a "Coming Soon" listing. He advised us to hop on this before it was due to be listed, and recommended an asking price with a due diligence amount that he thought would nail it for us, yet would not be excessive. We were able to secure the property, which perfectly suited our needs.So, in a nutshell, Ed identified our wants and needs for each type of property we sought. He kept us on track so that we wouldn't lose sight of our initial goals, in this emotional roller coaster that looking at homes entails. He advised us, very thoughtfully, on offering amounts that would secure the property for us, yet not be an overbid or outside of our budget.Ed's long experience with the Greensboro marketplace served us well. He has many community ties, and has made great recommendations for us for local talent (closing attorney Ed Galloway, landscapers, etc), whom he knew from experience and who would serve us well at a reasonable price.Ed was always accessible by mobile phone. He would contact us frequently and invited us to do the same. In our opinion, Ed is a 110% type of guy who will accomplish, to the very best of his abilities, all your real estate goals .Our followup experience: Ed Purgason was our real estate agent earlier this year (see above), when we secured a rental home. When we again wished to purchase another rental property, we went back to talk to Ed. Ed found us a property within our budget, and one that met our criteria. Ed immediately secured an appointment for us to tour the home. Unfortunately, just before our walkthrough the sellers agent notified Ed that the owner had just accepted an offer from another buyer (conditional to the seller immediately taking the home off the market). Because Ed knew how much we had wanted this home, he kept in touch with the sellers agent, asking that agent to notify him should the home come back on the market. We were thrilled when Ed called us a few weeks later to let us know that the prior deal on this home had fallen through, and that it would again be listing. He immediately arranged a house visit for us, that same day. We made an offer and were able to secure the home, before it went back on the market.Ed carefully reviewed the home inspection and encouraged us to ask for compensation for various items that should be considered for repair/replacement/upgrades. He juggled his schedule and took pains to have various vendors evaluate and provide estimates. Ed worked with the seller/sellers agent, who contributed via putting money towards our closing costs, covering nearly all of our requested repairs. In a separate transaction, we asked Ed to arrange for us to tour a home for a primary residence, which we had just viewed on Zillow. It was going into the weekend and we hadnt yet secured pre-approval. Nevertheless, Ed was able to connect us to a qualified lender, who could accommodate us. We were able to get preapproval and thus could have placed a serious offer, should we have wished to do so. In our dealings with Ed, he consistently, and in a timely manner, responded to our inquires even when we happened to catch him at dinner, at his doctors office, or when he was at the beach! I never felt that Ed pressured us to buy, so that he could make the sale. On the contrary, Ed would point out both the positives and the negatives of a home, in light of our needs. Ed helped keep us from getting carried away and potentially making decisions we might have regretted later. We were able to tap into Eds long presence here in Greensboro, for referrals. He recommended to us a lawyer for our settlement, who was very reasonably priced and provided great service.We certainly will be calling on Ed Purgason and his great team at RE/MAX, for any of our future real estate purchases.

This is essential when you're dealing with the more strategic aspects of closing on a home (questions regarding negotiation tactics, lending issues, legal issues, etc).My only critique would be he is actually so popular that he has less time to actively send you properties to look at than a less popular / less experienced realtor. Expect to do more of your own homework via Zillow, etc when trying to find the right property for yourself, but in my opinion that's half the fun of it anyways, so again, definitely look forward to working with Ed in the future!
