    About Deb Leamy

    My name is Deb Leamy, native of Providence, RI, home of funny accents and beautiful ocean coastlines. I landed in the beautiful mountains of Reno, NV after spending 20+ years in NYC. Trained as a dancer/singer, during my tenure in NYC I was fortunate enough to perform in several musicals on Broadway and on renowned stages such as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall, all while simultaneously studying the art and craft of Real Estate in Manhattan. After 7+ years of teaching in the halls of higher education, I've returned to my former passion - Residential Real Estate. I know what it's like to not love where you live, and then eventually find your dream home. I also know what it's like to have to sell a home within a very tight timeline and recall the stress and discomfort this brought. Luckily, we had a very skilled and highly empathetic agent who guided us every step of the way. These personal, and very sentimental tasks are not simply transactions, they are some of the biggest decision-making one will complete in their lifetime. If I was going to be an agent, I vowed to be like ours. Choosing Dickson Realty was one of the easier decisions I've made over the last several months.     Should I sell ? Where would I go? Should I repaint/carpet?

    Cynthia, This is a lot that you're dealing with; it's truly not a small thing. With the realtors you've spoken to, what is the potential price you could get for your home? And would that sale price go a little further in a different state, knowing that you all must stay together? Usually, paint and new carpeting are the number one things you can do to freshen up and prepare a home for a sale. I listed a home here in NV that went $5K over asking price, which was about the cost of the paint job, so the money was made back for sure. Lastly, ask around for a good local lender to explain about home renovation loans that are available strictly for repairs on a home, to be paid back once sold. Might be something out there to take that pressure off... Wishing you the best of luck.
