We had our honeymoon in Lahaina 28 years ago and had been staring a panoramic photo of the view from our lanai at the Hyatt Regency Maui all those years never thinking we would be able to own there. Dave made the dream come true.You won't find a realtor with greater patience, work ethic or integrity than Dave Futch. I am a lawyer and probably more cautious in my transactions than many people who don't see what I see in my profession. After researching realtors online I called Dave to discuss our situation. At first I was not really serious about buying in Maui because I knew we would not be able to fly back and forth from the east coast of the U.S. to look at multiple properties. Dave had been in this situation and told me he would video properties (if we were serious about particular ones). We started our search with him and he did everything he promised and more, allowing us to confidently view and purchase the home of our dreams which we may someday use as a primary residence once we retire. He kept a laser-like focus on what we wanted, sent us information promptly, educated us on what we needed to know and kept us on top of new listings. We were not the easiest people as I demanded a lot of detailed information. He never faltered in complying with my requests and didn't make me wait days and days for a reply like some realtors I have dealt with in the past. He understood the pressure and deadlines of doing a 1031 exchange and stayed on top of everything.You will find many realtors in Maui , but I seriously doubt you will find any as detail and customer oriented who also have a tireless work ethic and unsurpassed integrity as Dave. He seems to work 24-7. And keep in mind there is a five hour time difference between the east coast and Maui-he was up at 6 am answering our emails! I began my search on Zillow early in the year and upon finding a property of interest contacted Dave, the listing agent. What stood out for me during our initial conversation was not just his knowledge, but his wit and his calm easy going attitude. I quickly realized that Dave would be a good agent to work with. Upon my first property hunting trip to Maui I met Dave at his office in Paia and he drove me to look at the listing I had first inquired about. I immediately felt comfortable with him, like someone I've known for many years. He's truly friendly and personable. I felt Dave appreciated me for who I am, and not just as a source of income. Notably, Dave is among the most articulate people I've ever met. His way with words and ability to communicate clearly are truly impressive. It would of course be for naught if not backed up by his consummate knowledge of Maui real estate, expertise and attention to detail. As it worked out, I ended up making three trips to Maui over a 5 month period before finding and purchasing just the type of property I had in mind in October of this year. Finally, success! What I liked about Dave:- He seemed to know everyone, when I told people who we were working with they all knew of him, they said he was Mr. Haiku. When it came to getting loans, insurance, handyman, movers, he always had a few contacts at the ready.- He didn't put any pressure on us to make an offer and was generous with his time, showing us several houses over a few trips over several months. - I felt he gave us good advice when deciding how much to offer, not pushing us to offer more, and sometimes suggesting a lower bid. - When we were not able to be on island for the final walk through, he met the agent and took video for us to confirm acceptance.- But, honestly, it was how kindly he treated his frail geriatric dog, bundling him in a blanket and taking him with us in the car from house to house the first time we met him that convinced us to go with Dave as our agent.
