The most important advice I have for a new buyer I am working with is to be thoughtful in your decision-making process and not ever feel pressured to make rash decisions no matter what market conditions they are facing.

Over the past 18 years I have witnessed many market changes. In the recession back in 2007 - 2013 I worked with many homeowners facing foreclosure and helped many avoid foreclosure by negotiating with their lending institutions. As the market improved, I began to working with investors to help clean up the dilapidated housing leftover by the depressed market. At the same time, I began to work with builders to market new construction projects that offered affordable housing that stimulated the market improvement. As a result, I was also able to assist new home buyers, move up buyers and downsizers transition into new homes. While assisting buyers interested in purchasing new homes, I was also able to assist homeowners in selling existing homes that included entry level homes, farm properties and luxury homes.

I don't think it is possible to narrow a transaction I am most fond of down to just one. I have enjoyed almost every real estate transaction I have been fortunate to assist in. The part of real estate I enjoy the most is being able to offer services that are custom tailored to my client's needs. Every transaction I have been a part of has had different challenges to overcome.

I started in real estate as part of my family business. My grandfather owned a real estate brokerage with my dad when I was a child. By the time chose real estate as my career path my grandfather had retired and as part of that the company my dad and him owned was sold. My dad and brother opened up a John L Scott franchise together the next year and the day they opened the door I received my real estate license in the state of Oregon. A few years later I went through the process of obtaining my Washington state license and have been licensed in Oregon and Washington ever since serving Portland Metro and surrounding areas as well as all of Clark County Washington.

As a licensed real estate agent, we are required to take continuing education courses throughout the year to stay on top of industry changes and standards of practice. In addition to my continuing education, I stay active in the industry and implement a monthly coaching program to assist in the ever-changing environment. This has helped me adjust to the many market conditions I have witnessed over the 18 years I have been in the industry.
