If you are a Buyer interested in buying a home you should first meet with a lender's representative. They will schedule an appointment to discuss your credit, and your ability to purchase a home. They will also check to see if you can qualify for any first time home buyer programs that may be available.
I would advise a Seller to keep in mind that a real estate agent has spent several years evaluating properties, and their knowledge is invaluable. So, when the discussion comes to the list price I would advise a seller to keep an open mind about the value of their property because it is the buyer who determines if they want to purchase at the list price, not the seller. When a real estate agent advises the Seller of the true value of their property there is typically some reluctance on the part of the seller to accept the true reality of their property's value. They will insist on pricing their property way too high, which leaves them having to reduce the list price down to where it should have been originally, wasting valuable time.

I listed and sold a property for an 89 year old woman who was moving into her daughter's home. The home is located in Temple Terrace, FL, in Riverhills Estates. The home was in a desireable neighborhood, but it had not been updated since 1969. The owner gave me 3 months to list and sell this home. I started out by having several garage sales, which got people over to see the property, eventually one couple who had dropped by bought the home as an investment property for their portfolio. My client got a really good price and is very happy living with her daughter.
I got started in real estate in 1998 in California. After I got pregnant, I wanted a career in which I could work from home and watch my child, real estate gave me the best way to make an income and still take my child to school and to go on field trips with her. Now that she has graduated high school I can pursue my real estate dreams full-time.
