We had vacant property in Pomfret, CT listed with Brooke. My husband and I recognize that land sales are slow, because of that, we signed a two year contract with Brooke on Oct. 1, 2014. Driving by our land the other day, we noticed that the for sale sign was down. I called Brooke and left a message, no response. I then texted her the next day, no response, so I stopped in to her office, and of course she wasn't in. I spoke to the Katie Totten, who I believe to be the managing broker, who assured me that this wasn't the way that their office normally does things. Well, we then got an email from Brooke who said that she had allowed the listing to expire and had the sign removed because she "felt we had run our course with the listing". No email or phone call to let us know that she no longer wanted the listing, was having the sign removed, was taking our property off mls, or off the market. I am shocked by this extremely unprofessional behavior. Additionally, in the last two years we have NEVER been contacted by Brooke to discuss price, strategy, or marketing. We have never seen our land advertised in any of the local papers with her other listings. We have asked her to make changes to the listing, better photos, etc. We wanted to offer owner financing which she told us she would add to the listing but never did. So in spite of all the glowing reviews here, I think it's important for potential clients to see the other side of this realtor.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Brooke. She was not only our sales contact in finding a new home, but she also represented us in the sale of our previous property. On our previous property, we ran into an issue on the inspection with the chimneys in that home. The cost to repair was going to be very high and we did not think the sale would go thru. Brooke, however, was very calm. She worked with the buyers broker and was able to come up with an arrangement that was satisfactory to the buyer and to us. Without Brooke, this sale would have not have occurred. In regards to finding us a home, Brooke listened to what we wanted. She only showed us homes she knew would interest us. In fact, when we visited the home, we ended up buying, she said to me when we walked in the door "this is your house". She was right. I have the highest respect for Brooke Gelhaus. She is a true professional. I am highly likely to recommend her.

Brooke was our buyer's agent and helped us find a home after relocating to New England. We had found a house we were interested in and contacted her about it. We viewed the house and it was quite nice but more than what we really needed. She then lined up a series of homes for us to consider. Early on, she had a good sense of our needs and tastes. She listened and observed carefully when we were viewing the houses. Once we had seen them all, Brooke called us about a new listing that, based on what she had learned about both of us, incorporated all of the features that we each wanted. We were amazed that this house Brooke selected for us had elements of our favorite houses so far, plus more. It is as though she knew better than we did what we were looking for. There were multiple offers on the house and she negotiated for us and we feel that we got a good price considering the competitive bids. I felt from the start that she was above-board and ethical, and realistic in her advice to us about how to respond to the demands of the sellers. She helped seal the deal and we will have a pleasant memory of the transaction thanks to her. She is pleasant and professional and we highly recommend her for your needs.
