The characteristics that distinguish Steve from many is that he actually cares, listens, communicates honestly and with his intelligence allowed him to meet and overcome adversity in stride. After listening to my rambling about what I wanted and didn't want he synthesized this information into a workable plan to find me a home, which he did on day one, only because he had listened and kept re-checking his interpretations. ZillowVERIFIED When I was first looking for a house in Bend, I initially began working with Lily from Ladd group. While she was a "nice" person, she was definitely not working in my best interest as a buyer. I gave her a price range we were comfortable with, which she assured me we would find what we were looking for within. Well, when we qualified for more money, she suddenly could no longer find houses in our price range. We were buying remotely, so I needed a realtor who could be my eyes and give me an honest impression of a home. Lily was always overly positive about a home's condition. Thankfully, we had friends in the area willing to do a second walk through with her and noted the falsehoods (Ex: L: There is beautiful tile work in the bathroom. Our friends: The tile in the bathroom is dingy and cracked and will need to be replaced. L. Wow,what a great yard and pergola! Our friends: The wood is unfinished and has no railing, its not up to code and feels pretty dangerous.) There was one decent house she showed us, which we did make a weak offer on (asking price) because, while the house was great, we really wanted to be within walking distance to a park and there wasn't one. Well, she definitely let us know her displeasure regarding the offer, and there was a bidding war on the house which we chose not to involve ourselves in because it didn't meet that park requirement we had which would have been a big compromise for us. When I felt I couldn't trust that she was working in our best interest I went with another realtor and found out that the empty space at the end of the block was zoned to become a 5 acre park. Had I known, we would have made a stronger offer. She also told us you could have a small ADU in deschutes river woods (you can't). Like I said, while she is a nice person, as a buyer be prepared to do your own extra due diligence, and make sure you can see her offerings with your own two eyes.

Brian seemed like my kind of guy, and Sotheby's doesn't use just anybody, so I felt it was worth a try. He was the perfect choice. In only a few emails, he was able to understand precisely what we were looking for. On a trip to Bend, He showed me houses that all fit with what I was looking for. In just one day, he gave me an overview of most of the west side of town and the many neighborhoods found there. How good of a job did he do? Well, we found the perfect house and went ahead and made a deal on it. On the first day of looking.
