Community Involvement

I serve on the Board of Directors of the Whatcom Council on Aging (Bellingham Senior Activity Center), and the board of Support Officer Community Care. I am a Meals on Wheels Driver and regular volunteer at the Senior Center.

HOBBIES/INTEREST

You'll find me biking Bellingham's trails, kayaking and canoeing its lakes, rivers and Bay, and working on my next chainsaw carving to donate to a local auction.

FAMILY

My wife Heather and I married in 2002, and have two amazing kids: Hayden and Jazzy. We're an athletic family and we love racing the Ski to Sea, competing in local Ninja obstacle competitions, and traveling all over the world to far flung adventures. We live on 20 acres on Squalicum Mountain, where we are joined by our dogs Boomer and Skyler, and our cat Tiger.

Brandon Nelson is a valuable gem in Whatcom County real estate. In our recent sale, we were very impressed with the care, wisdom, and respect he displayed at every stage in working with us. We sought Brandons guidance on many aspects of the process and always felt it was solid, honest, and the right path. He generously listened and took to heart the story of our home, getting to know it inside and out. With his deep experience in real estate and inspections, he gave us excellent advice on fixes, upgrades, design improvements, and light remodeling that helped us sell at a premium price. This included sheetrock repair, painting, new carpet in one room, professional window washing, and deep cleaning. He used his connections to find us qualified people to do the work much quicker than if we had attempted to schedule it ourselves. He then arranged premium staging and photography that definitely helped get the "Wow!" impressions we got from potential buyers. His honesty and respect for all parties during negotiations was notably commendable. We are also deeply grateful for the extensive effort Brandon put into organizing open houses and ensuring our home was well-cared-for while we were away, providing us immense peace of mind. Having spent 17 cherished years in that home, with so many family milestones, parting was bittersweet. We consider our experience with Chara, Chelsea, and the BNP family nothing short of divine in all aspects! Shortly after discovering Bellingham, we booked our first weekend trip here to see some homes with Chara and Chelsea, and they helped us fall in love with the area immediately. They squeezed in as many home viewings as we wanted, and they provided a full list of places/things to see and do in Bellingham. Chara and Chelsea were very knowledgeable about the different neighborhoods within Bellingham, and were able to quickly get a feel for aspects we were looking for in a home and surrounding community. We found the right home on our second visit to Bellingham, and Chara and Chelsea had that one packed full of possibilities as well. We appreciated their honest and insightful opinions about everything from quality of construction and building materials to pricing an offer right in Bellingham's fast-paced market. Given we were out of state for most events throughout the escrow process, Chara and Chelsea and even Brandon helped us tremendously in scheduling and representing us in inspections/appraisals. Chara, Chelsea, and all BNP staff communicated frequently with us throughout the process, and we felt well-informed throughout. Their support for their clients continues well after the sale, and we have reached out to Chara and Chelsea on several occasions for various recommendations on contacts for landscaping and repairs.
