One recent transaction that stands out is a home I listed on South 19th Street in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
The property had wonderful potential, but I knew buyers might have difficulty looking beyond some of its existing finishes to envision what the home could become.
Rather than simply listing the property and hoping buyers would see that potential, I took a different approach.
I created a custom vision book illustrating possible renovations and design updates. The goal wasn't to suggest that the home had already been renovated, but to help buyers imagine the possibilities and understand how the property could fit their lifestyle.
The strategy helped tell a more compelling story about the home.
What made the experience especially meaningful was the family connection. The buyers were a young family relocating to Fernandina Beach to be closer to their grandparents. The home represented an opportunity to begin a new chapter near the people they loved.

My real estate career actually began with hotels, a conversation with a broker, and a challenge I wasn't about to ignore.
I was managing multiple hotels for an owner at JWB Realty Services. After we sold our first hotel, the broker explained that if I wanted to earn a commission on the sale, I needed a real estate license.
Three weeks later, I walked into his office and handed him my license.
I'd completed the required coursework, passed the exam, and officially become a licensed real estate salesperson.
That was the beginning of my commercial real estate career.
My introduction to residential real estate came a little differently.
One of our investors purchased eight partially constructed townhomes. Someone needed to coordinate with the builder to finish each unit and then sell them.
That someone turned out to be me.
I spent weekends hosting open houses, learning the residential market firsthand, working with prospective buyers, and selling each of those eight townhomes.
By the time the last one sold, residential real estate had become another part of my business. Whenever one of our clients needed to buy or sell a home, I was the person they called.
Looking back, I love that my career wasn't built around a traditional path into residential sales. It grew from solving problems, taking initiative, understanding investments, and learning how to connect properties with the right buyers.
Those experiences still shape how I work today.

Absolutely. While I have completed specialized commercial real estate training and continue to pursue additional real estate education, I believe some of my most valuable qualifications come from years of hands-on experience managing properties, people, and investments.
Before focusing on residential real estate, I spent nearly two decades in hospitality leadership, overseeing hotel operations across multiple states. That experience gave me a working understanding of everything from guest services and employee management to building maintenance, renovations, budgets, vendor relationships, and operational challenges.
I also managed approximately 900,000 square feet of commercial real estate, including office, medical, and retail properties, along with mixed-use developments and other investment properties.
Those responsibilities required knowledge of property operations, building systems, accessibility considerations such as ADA requirements, maintenance planning, and the financial decisions involved in owning and managing real estate.
That background gives me a perspective that extends beyond the typical home tour.
When I'm helping buyers evaluate a property, I think about how the home functions, its ongoing maintenance needs, potential ownership costs, and how it will support their lifestyle.
When I'm representing sellers, I bring experience in property positioning, investment value, marketing, negotiation, and understanding what makes a property attractive to prospective buyers.
My hospitality background also taught me something equally important: exceptional service requires anticipating needs, solving problems, communicating clearly, and taking personal responsibility for the experience.
I continue to invest in my professional education because real estate, technology, and the market are constantly evolving. But I believe the combination of formal training and decades of practical experience is what allows me to offer clients a broader, more thoughtful level of representation.
