Q: 1. What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?

The advice I'd give varies so much depending on the market but every buyer should prepare in advance, boosting credit score and saving money. Have a list of wants/needs prepared in advance but be flexible when you start looking. Have your loan pre-approval/finances in order when you're ready for your home search and choose an agent that listens to you and aligns with your values. Know that it might take several offers to get the right house, don't be discouraged, your HOME is out there.

Q: 2. What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?

Plan ahead. Pick an experienced real estate professional that listens to you and will help you prepare your home for the current market. An agent who knows the market trends and is skilled in pricing, negotiating and is willing to WORK. This is very important for maximizing your gains in the least amount of time with minimal stress to you.

Q: 3. What types of clients have you worked with?

I have worked with many types of clients. It's less about the types of clients and more about the clients as individuals. Each one is special and has educated me in some way.

Q: 4. Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?

My most recent transaction is one where the buyers were referred to me by a client I had done several transactions with, over 15 years ago! It's special when someone moves away but remembers your name for that long. I must have made a great impression on them to have referred their friend to me. The new buyers were a joy and I outdid myself to make sure they had a great experience. Another fond transaction involved a family selling the family home. The family dynamic can be tough in this situation but if you have care and concern for each individual it can be a really beautiful experience.

Q: 5. How did you get started in Real Estate?

When I got into real estate I was the youngest agent in my Board at 26. It was like jumping off a cliff! I had a small child and was furloughed after 9/11. True sink or swim style and fortunately for me it became my passion and I swept the Top Agent awards in my office that year (2003).

Q: 6. Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?

I am grateful for my years as Lead Flight Attendant, it taught me how to sell ANYTHING (think...chicken over beef, aisle or middle seat) and to really LISTEN to what clients are saying. I've taken several courses in Emotional Intelligence, important for all people, not just agents. I've taken courses on home staging and they are helpful when clients are getting ready to list. 19+ years of courses and experience in many aspects of real estate.

This is our second time working with Andrea as a realtor. The first time, we were selling our home ?by owner? and she was the buyers realtor. She helped us tremendously through that process so I naturally went to her to sell our home and find/purchase another. Andrea is the total package?knowledgeable, experienced, well known in the community, and most importantly just a fantastic person with great morals. She guided us through our process extremely patiently and was in constant communication with us. She gave us advise, helped us navigate through some unexpected turns and kept us in a positive state of mind through the duration. We are also incredibly thankful that she works with a great team of realtors with century 21. If we require another realtor, Andrea Hatton will be our choice 100%

Andrea was extremely helpful in the sale of my home. She met us on the first day and provided some excellent advice about what to fix up for the sale of the house. Throughout the course of the listing, she was always extremely responsive, and very timely with all correspondence. Andrea was also able to help me find some service providers for cleaning and minor house repairs. She even staged some items in the home to make it a bit more welcoming for the photos and showings. Overall I would highly recommend listing/buying a home with her!

My mother and I listed Mom's Fernandina home with Andrea after a different local realtor had failed to produce results. Despite a severely depressed market, Andrea generated several times more showings than we had had during the previous six months. She always responded promptly to concerns, and kept us constantly informed. When unexpected issues arose with the lender's appraisal, Andrea's advice was invaluable in achieving a resolution which saved the sale and guided it to a successful closing. If you would like the services of a capable and honest realtor who is dedicated to your interests, I highly recommend Andrea Hatton. Jerry Borshard Santa Fe, NM September, 2013
