My wife and I met with Geoff to discuss listing our home with his company. We were very pleased with the presentation and felt Geoff would do a great job selling our home and then we discussed pricing our home. It seems the seller (home owner) doesn't get to name his or her price when listing a home with Re/Max Mountain Properties. We had already checked the MLS for other properties like ours and we found most were listed in the $125-128.00 per sq. ft. range. Geoff wanted to list our home around $112.00 per sq. ft. and made it clear that if he couldn't set the selling price, he wouldn't list the home. We were not willing to sell at Geoff's suggested price and decided to wait until next spring to list our home. Two months later Geoff listed a home at the end of our road, the home wasn't as nice as ours, the lot was smaller, house smaller, etc. but it was listed @ $125.00 per sq. ft. Go figure! I think Geoff is a great guy but I don't think he really wanted our business. Realtors should guide you through all aspects of selling your home, they should make suggestions on asking price but ultimately the asking price should be up to the home owner. I think Geoff will do a great job marketing your property but be prepared to let him call the shots when it comes to pricing your home.
