Buying and selling properties in California is not new to me. All of my agents have been helpful, professional, and personable; but Scott Messing stands among the best of the best. He became our agent on very short notice in the middle of a busy time of the year, but he made himself available within days, and consistently made us feel as if we were his only clients even though we were one of many.I was impressed that Scott accepted our terms, qualifications, and time-line without question. He didn't pressure us or try to up-sell. We had planned on giving the selection process a day, but it turned out that we had to take two. Scott was able to accommodate us, even though it took some rearranging of his schedule. As soon as we found the perfect home, Scott immediately sent out our offer, and began a skillful negotiation with the sellers. It was only a matter of a day or two, and our offer was accepted. Later, Scott was able to negotiate a lower price, even though we were quite willing to pay the original offer. Scott treated our budget as if it were his, and was able to get us a better deal than we had anticipated!!!The escrow process ran into a couple of snags, but Scott advocated for us, and helped us find a more honest and reliable loan company without questioning or making excuses for the first company. We were able to move into the home after a very short escrow, and lived there many happy years, keeping in touch with him on a friendly basis for all that time. That's the kind of person Scott is: totally invested in taking good care of his clients for motives beyond good business practices. It became personal with us.Because Scott did such a good job for us in finding a home, when it came time to sell, of course we went back to him; who, by that time, had practically become a member of the family. His business acumen became even more apparent with the sale. He was able to find an accurate value for the home and deal with me, who is not always easy to please, actually. Once again, this transaction had its problems. Our original buyer lost his job only weeks before the escrow was to have closed. Scott was quick to tell me what my obligations and rights were, and I played hardball. Not once did Scott complain about my decisions, and willingly did the extra work necessary for this situation. We put the house back on the market, and got it sold within a week. Another relatively short escrow, and the new, happy family was moving in.One last thing: As usual, time was short, so Scott helped my daughter move out, took care of getting the house ready for the new owners, contracted to have the house looking pristine inside and out, ordered and supervised a clean-out service, made sure it looked lived-in while it was vacant by checking the property regularly, and did so much more than any agent could reasonably be expected to do. He took a personal interest in us without once patting himself on the back or making us feel beholding to him (although we certainly did!). That's just the kind of person Scott is.I cannot recommend Scott Messing more highly. There isn't one even-slightly negative thing I can dream up to say about him. He is the best real estate agent it has even been my pleasure to work with.
