About Stephen Nilsen

Steve and Ashley Nilsen deal in real estate transactions across Eastern North Carolina from the Virginia Border to the South Carolina Border. Steve and Ashley are experts in all areas of real estate transactions working with first time home buyers, foreclosures, short-sales, investors, and home sellers. With his background in sales and marketing, Steve utilizes his knowledge of both traditional and digital marketing to maximize exposure for sellers and to provide clear and comprehensive information to buyers. With her background as a licensed therapist, Ashley leverages the negotiating and people skills she obtained as a therapist to help her clients find the home that is right for them and get them the best possible deal. Steve holds a Bachelor's Degree in History as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences and a Masters in Business Administration. Steve has been in both sales and management roles at startups and Fortune 100 companies but decided to make the transition to Real Estate in 2018 after successful investments in income producing properties and found that he would enjoy putting his management and negotiating skills to work as a Real Estate Agent. Originally from Wilmington North Carolina, Ashley has lived in Greenville since 1999 when she began attending East Carolina University. While at East Carolina University, Ashley was on the ECU Dance Team and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology as well as a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. After working as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 13 years, Ashley made the jump into real estate.

Knowledgeable, professional and appropriately demanding. Upon experiencing 6 prior "experienced" RE agents we found Stephen. The difference was night and day. My having been in business in many sectors, wearing many hats, for many years, it is reasonably easy to sort the wheat from the chaff. I had begun to believe that chaff was our only option. The real estate profession is... full of its self and wannabes and let's do this the quick and easy way without having to spend much time on sales effort and less time on getting the deal done by pricing below market to keep our sales volume high as this is a performance metric which brings future customers...they want to see numerical performance. Stephen has both, performance in sales numbers and performance in dollar sales/market return per unit. His secret? He works in a timely manner, does the research, and associates with professional individuals that know their craft. Out of almost 80+ RE agents I have worked with over the last 45 years, Stephen is in the top 5. Of those 5, 2 have gone to the great RE office in the sky and 1 recently retired in disgust of their realty support company...and the last retired from overwork. It's the nature of the industry, based on seller lack of knowledge and the ease of which sellers can be sold. Proof you say?
