Rodney Tate Jr. has always been a natural leader. He was born to Rodney Tate and Vickie Tate in 1986 and is the oldest of 3 children. In high school he was in many leadership roles across several groups like the knowledge bowl, cross country, the JROTC drill team, and his favorite basketball. After high school he decided to attend college on a full athletic scholarship to Walters State Community College. Two years later he joined the worlds' finest Navy becoming the third generation of Tate military men. In the Navy he led both men and women, older and younger as a Gas Turbine Systems Mechanic. He was president of MWR (Moral Welfare and Recreation) on board the USS Curtis Wilbur DDG 56 as a petty officer third class. After a devastating ACL injury in the Yokosuka Naval Base championship Rodney was sidelined and ultimately separated from the Navy with an honorable discharge in 2010. Transitioning back to civilian life was a challenge as the economy had no need for a young Gas Turbine Systems Mechanic. In 2010 Rodney found work as a retail salesman promoting products from organic cleaners to flat irons. A year later he made the move to become a car salesman where after just 14 months he was promoted to assistant manager. As a manager he was responsible for a 3 million dollar inventory as well as the success of his peers and dealership. Here is where he learned to deliver exceptional customer service and he maintained a 4.0 CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) his entire tenure with Sunrise. In his prime of a five year career at Sunrise Buick GMC he made the tough decision to change industries and become a real estate agent. Today Rodney is a mentor with the TeamUp Grizzlies mentor program as well as a mentor/coach with MAM (Memphis Athletic Ministries). Rodney is a member of MAAR, WCR, and is a 1st year Realtist with NAREB. He serves on the Governmental Affairs Council, community outreach board, and is a huge advocate for the 2MN5 Initiative set forth by NAREB. Rodney is also an honors student at Strayer University and lead Realtor at Property One Real Estate Services. He is a passionate member of his community and plans to serve them for years to come. That includes you!
