Make sure you have your pre-approval prior to shopping for a home. Nothing worse than finding your dream home only to discover it's not in your budget. Also, just because you were approved for a certain amount, be comfortable with your monthly payments. Ultimately it is you who has to make those monthly payments.
My biggest advice is to have patience with the process. It's an emotional time for you but my job and goal is to keep the stress level down as much as possible.

Getting to know my customers and having them become friends is the BEST. A recent client I had I have been helping for about one and a half years. They had a home to sell out of state before they could make the move. Unfortunately, it took longer than expected. During that time we kept in close contact and were able to get them under contract shortly after their home went under contract. When issues came up on the sale of their home, we (client, lender, and me) worked together to get it resolved. During it all, I became friends with them and I look forward to helping them celebrate many anniversaries in their home.
My first ever job was as a receptionist at a real estate office. It's a chance to help others and that's what appeals to me the most.
Ongoing education is so key as a real estate agent as rules, laws, and practices can change quite frequently. I am also a real estate instructor so yes, I take education very seriously.
