Peter Maw

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, I quickly realized how lucky I was to live an hour away from one of the greatest places on earth, Whistler, BC - the birthplace of many of my fondest memories. My weekends and summers were spent in Whistler visiting my aunt, uncle and cousins. Spending time in the mountains was always exciting and comforting to me. There was nothing better than spending a day on the hill and coming back to a warm home to relax with family and friends. I learned to appreciate the resort lifestyle at a young age. I headed off to University in 1995 to attend the University of Victoria where I received my Bachelor's degree in biochemistry. Each summer I would head up to Whistler to mountain bike, golf and work. After graduating, I made my way back to Whistler full-time where I spent my time working for Intrawest, skiing, biking and golfing. In 2000, I decided to leave Whistler and head to Los Angeles to further my professional career. I received a job offer from UBS Warburg, a Swiss-based investment bank, where I worked as an analyst for two and a half years. Banking was an invaluable experience but I decided to pursue a more balanced lifestyle and get back to what I love the most - the mountains. Five months before "retiring" from banking, I visited Mammoth Mountain for the first time and fell in love with the place. I visited the resort several times after that and soon realized it was no coincidence that I was skiing in a foot of fresh powder under a blue bird sky each time I visited. It soon became clear that Mammoth was going to be my new home after meeting Larry McKee, Owner and President of Century 21 Mammoth Realty, and fellow Whistlerite. I moved to Mammoth in October 2003, and purchased my first home. Living in Mammoth today reminds me of the way Whistler was several years ago so I'm excited to be a part of its future. 32 feet of snow, 300 days of sunshine, skiing, biking, fishing, golf and a career that I love: I love it here! In July, 2005, my wife DeDe and I were married at the Hayden Cabin in Mammoth and since then she founded her preschool "Mammoth Montessori Children's House." DeDe and I met in Mammoth, were engaged and married here, and now have a beautiful little girl, Grace, and our energetic son, Sawyer! Mammoth is treating us well!
