About Mike Powers

Michael Powers has been a resident of Hilton Head Island for 44 years and a Realtor since 1999. With an extensive knowledge in Residential/Commercial Real Estate Sales, he has helped more than 2000 families accomplish their dreams of having a home on Hilton Head Island or in Bluffton, and he has closed more than $550 million dollars in sales. Michael started out in Real Estate as a consumer just shy of 21 years old when he bought his first property in Forest Beach on Hilton Head. He quickly learned that a down payment of 10% of an $87,500 purchase had a strong return over the next 10 years in capital appreciation, rental income and tax deductions. He quickly began to further his education through personal Real Estate purchases, sales and tax-deferred exchanges. Michael now has a very strong understanding of weekly rentals, market swings and momentums, and professional financing options (without having to jump through all the hoops that can often times accompany a real estate purchase). Through 23 years of establishing strong relationships, Michael has come to know and work with local contractors, builders and handymen whom he trusts to recommend whenever needed. I was casually looking for a home to buy in Hilton Head and was introduced to Mike by a former client. I expressed my interest in a particular neighborhood and asked that if he knew of anything coming up to let me know. That some evening he let me know that a house, not listed yet, was going live on MLS the next day. We looked at it the next morning, made an offer six hours later it was a done deal. Mike's long history selling real estate is a great asset. He's a life long resident and seems to know everyone. As a result, no one saw this house except us and he helped negotiate a deal for us and both we and the seller were happy. Closing was uncomplicated. I had questions about surrounding undeveloped property, the property inspector's report, all handled quickly. Most important to me was the fast follow up and the attention to detail not only for the deal, but a buyer's questions that you would hope your Realtor would know. If he didn't have an immediate answer the sun didn't set until he found one. I really recommend Mike and will use him again as we pursue more real estate opportunities on and near the island.
