When it seemed like there was no way forward, I decided to break through the wall that stood in my way and create my own path to the career of my dreams. While building my real estate business, I learned many valuable lessons. Leaving yet another job interview that did not pan out, I felt discouraged, but just for a moment. However, in that instant, rather than give up, I decided it was time to create my own path to an opportunity. I became fascinated with real estate early on in life. For years, my parents managed huge townhouses in our neighborhood. I enjoyed visiting our neighbor's homes and seeing how different each one looked with that person's individual touch even though all of the layouts were the same. I later met a REALTOR® and worked hard to graduate one year early from high school because I was eager to start my career. I answered ad after ad for beginning property management positions with "no experience required," but every one of them changed their tune later in the process. Tired of staying stuck, I took matters into my own hands. I have always been a fighter and a hard worker. I come from a family with many strong women, especially my aunt and cousin who instilled in me that independent mindset. As the oldest of my siblings, I worked hard for whatever I wanted and developed a strong work ethic a very young age. I continued to work and fight for my dream, earning my leasing agent certification on my own (which had never been done) before beginning my property management career. For nine years, I enjoyed being a property manager, but it was a high-stress industry. When I was put on bedrest while pregnant with my middle child, I became a licensed REALTOR®, which others had been encouraging me to do for years. During those first couple years in the business, I received a crash course in the industry as so many things changed in the world around me. The dotcom bubble burst, 9/11 happened, and we were hit with tropical storm Allison. After the fact, I realized each event was a learning experience. Following the tropical storm, I became well versed in Houston flood plains. I have lived in Houston for most of my life (on every side of town) and have seen the city change over the years. I have continued to stay up to date on the newest trends and safety, including the development of retaining ponds. Home maintenance in particular has become a passion of mine, and I enjoy sharing what I have learned through my work with others. I have always wanted to help people - that was part of what got me into this industry in the first place. Being able to do so not only through transactions but also continuing to support my clients through the years has been life-changing. I have done many things since I first began in business over 20 years ago, including founding, running, owning, and selling other businesses, all while raising my three girls. Even when things have been outside of my control, encountering obstacle after obstacle, I have continued to move forward - fighting each step of the way. I do not give up and I do not believe in failure. I continue to move forward no matter what happens because I've learned that with determination, passion and resilience, the only limitations are those we create ourselves. I am proud of the life I have built for my family, offering new experiences and providing opportunities for my children to travel and pursue their passions. Whenever I am not working, I enjoy traveling, hiking, going to the beach, and exploring all the beautiful places here. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is helping others find the right fit to live their best lives through real estate.
