    About Michael Smith

Mike Smith has spent the last 15 years in the Twin Cities housing industry, first as an appraiser then realtor and now broker/owner of Anderson Realty. For the past 12 years, he's been an owner and creative director of Brownsmith Restoration, an award winning design+build construction company. In 2012 he opened the nationally known furniture and home goods store, Forage Modern Workshop. In 2016, Mike and his team moved a vintage diner from Pennsylvania to Minneapolis and fully restored it, creating Hi-Lo Diner. Mike loves starting new things, seeing things grow and meeting new people along the way. You can follow him on instagram for cute pictures of his kids, interesting shots showing homes and progress shots on his projects.

"I am a people oriented, results driven, housing expert, and I am really excited about reale state! Today's market is challenging, but I am up to the task! I average 1 closing every 5 days. My background as a real estate appraiser, investor, small business owner and licensed general contractor give me the skills, confidence and experience to be an effective realtor in today's crazy market."

    More about Mike's Story:
My grandmother, Sylvia Anderson, started Anderson Realty in the late 1950's. At the time she was a rarity, being a woman and a broker. I grew up hearing stories of what she was able to accomplish for herself and others. She is my inspiration. I watched my grandma for 30 years, as she helped people she cares about buy and sell homes. She also owned and ran a restaurant, a farm, a travel agency, and a laundromat.

When I was 15, I worked with my grandparents, as they bought a house, fixed it up, and sold it. I didn't realize it at the time, but that was an important time in my development. I was hooked. Maybe it's in my blood.

A few years later I officially entered the real estate world by way of appraisal. I was a licensed residential appraiser for 4 years. This learning and understanding of real estate value, and the memories of working with my grandparents, led me into investment and general contracting.

In 2005 I began buying, fixing and selling homes. In 2007, after buying, fixing and selling numerous properties, I got my realtor's license, and in 2010 I became the broker and owner of Anderson Realty.

Now, with an office of 10 agents, Anderson Realty remains a small, focused, group of real estate professionals.

In addition to running Anderson Realty, I have a remodeling company called Brownsmith Restoration, a furniture/lifestyle store called Forage Modern Workshop and am an owner of Hi-Lo Diner in Minneapolis.

I live in the Ramsey Hill neighborhood of St. Paul with my amazing wife and 2 boys.

I look forward to using my years of experience and enthusiasm to help you find your own home!
