Mary Ellen Ellwood

Mary Ellen started selling real estate in 2005 and quickly realized that all of her previous work experience had prepared her for a successful career in real estate. Since then she has sold over $24,500,000, in homes in Riverhead & Southold Towns, earned her brokers license; completed two designation courses: Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and Certified Buyer Representative (CBR) and is currently working on her Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI). Mary Ellen worked in Manhattan for 18 years in the public relations industry, first as a PR executive and then as a Director of Human Resources. On the PR side she coordinated efforts with advertising, direct mail and sales promotions teams for U.S. Army recruiting efforts; wrote newsletters & press materials; created trade show displays; video news releases and coordinated press conferences and special events. Her clients included the U.S. Army, Fisher-Price, Wyeth-Ayerst, Sears , New York Telephone, Owens-Corning and American Greeting Cards. As a former Director of Human Resources she recruited and hired PR specialists; created and oversaw training for all levels of staff; supervised summer internship programs; handled employee/management relations; managed the performance evaluation and raise process; implemented policies and procedures; oversaw payroll administration, benefits and 401k programs for current and former employees; serviced employee staffs ranging from 120-350; serviced single offices in NYC and multiple offices across the U.S. Mary Ellen is very involved in the community and is the Past President of the Rotary Club of Riverhead, is the coordinator of the Riverhead Country Fair, a member of the board of directors for Riverhead Townscape and is the President of the North Fork Chapter of the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR). In addition, she sings at St. Rosalie's Church in Hampton Bays and in the Peconic Bay Masterworks Choir and has volunteered at the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead providing tours to the general public during open houses and serving as an usher. In her free time she loves spending time with her family and 21 nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen is a North Fork Native. She was born and raised in Riverhead and is the oldest of eight children. She attended the University of Dayton and received a BA in Communications.
