Marquise grew up in North Carolina and attended North Carolina Wesleyan College, where he studied business administration. He was an elite high school and college varsity football player with aspirations of an NFL career, but a sports injury resulting in two fractured vertebrae ended his hopes of one. He felt his life come to a standstill, but Marquise hardly so much as stumbled. While taking an impromptu trip to California with a friend, he couldn't ignore the beauty and energy of the state nor his completely transformed outlook. The brief hiatus turned into permanent residency in 2006, and he realized he didn't need to be a part of the NFL to have a successful career. Despite his rerouted goals, he continues to use his sports mentality to drive who he is today: "Do your best. Be your best." Marquise's interest in real estate began when he worked in the Bay Area banking industry, where he quickly ascended the ranks and learned more about the business by processing home loans. Perhaps for the first time since his injury, he rekindled his excitement and motivation -- this time, about real estate. As an agent, his trusting demeanor assists buyers in defining their vision of the perfect home and helps sellers express the reasons behind their moves and what their futures look like. At one point in Marquise's life, he never would have guessed what his future looked like. But sometimes, it doesn't matter how much you give; sometimes, factors beyond your control are overpowering. After the market crash of 2008, Marquise was heavily affected -- he was laid off from his job and, shortly after, experienced homelessness. But even during that intense experience, Marquise's mindset never wavered. He says, "When life knocks you down, you can't slowly get back up. You spring to your feet with a burning desire to succeed." And spring he did. Marquise soon exploded onto the real estate scene with a devotion to helping people achieve the dream of homeownership. By looking at Marquise today -- the founder and leader of Mpire Luxe Real Estate -- you might never guess where he's been, but his past exemplifies his indomitable spirit and indelible character. In addition to numerous accolades that include the San Mateo County Association of Realtors® (SAMCAR®) Community Service Award, recognition from the San Mateo County Real Producers, and membership in the elite Top Agent Network, Marquise enjoys a vast industry network through his membership in SAMCAR®. But Marquise doesn't just work to better the lives of his clients; he's equally passionate about uplifting the community that was there for him at his darkest moments. He gives back through his profound involvement with LifeMoves, the interim housing shelter that gave him grace when he needed it most. He also supports local clothing drives and meal programs for the unhoused and is a board member of the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Silicon Valley.
