My husband and I met Elena at Chinatti Realty through spontaneously matching with her through Zillow when we requested to view a listing. I think most people are wary of working with a buyers agent because they understand that an agents commission is based on the final sale price of the purchase. This is why the strength I have chosen to list about Elena is first and foremost that she acted as a guide during our homesearch process, but the reins were always tightly in our hands. We gave our budget, she never suggested anything over. At times, she even recommended we take a step back and look a the data of comparable homes with a level headed view rather than getting swept up in the bidding. There were times in our search when I wanted a clear, easy answer to questions that are complex and constantly changing: Will the market improve in a few months? Will we be able to find another home like this? Based on the appearance of the house during our tour, is it likely we can waive our home inspection and rest easy at night? To this, Elena always responded: aEURoemy friends, the truth is, I dont knowaEUR?. And I think those are the moments when I really felt like I could trust her. It would be easy enough to lie and give a pretty answer that makes her clients feel good, that drives the offer higher, but she tells us the truth. Elena helped us to understand what we really wanted We wanted what I think a lot of people want: an ugly house with good bones. Something that is cosmetically hideous enough to deter other interested parties but not in need of such repair that wed call it a fixer upper. Elena advised us to always see homes in person. And to her credit, she came out with us even when she knew the homes we were going to be seeing were not what we would like. Creepy basements. Squishy floors. Sold as-is properties that were way over our heads and flipped properties that were going to be attracting offers beyond our budget. So many houses we asked to see before the open houses or during late nights on weekdays. I have a distinct memory of waking up one day and thinking to myself, aEURoeOh, now I know what I REALLY wantaEUR?. And it was that same second house. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME HOUSE WE KNEW WE WANTED BEFORE!!! But seeing the other houses and seeing why they werent going to work for us was necessary in order for us to really understand where we could see ourselves living and what fever dreams in our minds were not going to work in reality. Elena was punctual. She was on time. All the mechanical things that needed to happen that we had no idea about she took care of for us. Our offer was accepted and suddenly we needed a lawyer. She and her company were able to direct us a good lawyer. We need a home inspector. She and her company directed us to a good home inspector (and as a good agent does she was also with us during the inspection which was thankfully an uneventful and boring 2 hours). We communicated with Elena across two different oceans throughout the entire homebuying process, one of these times during which we were preparing to put in an offer on the house we ended up getting. I was so anxious that somehow this house that had been on the market for months was going to get an amazing offer a few days before us and immediately accept it without seeing our offer. So Elena worked ON HER OVERSEAS VACATION to put in that offer. And then part of the offer was that the seller requested to lower her commission, to which she agreed and did not ask us to compensate her for. In conclusion, we wholeheartedly recommend Elena as a buyers agent. She is trustworthy, patient, and hardworking. If you choose her, you are in good hands. She took a very stressful and emotional process and smoothed out all the wrinkles to make things go as quickly and as painlessly as possible. At times, our home buying process was a fun adventure. Do I want to do it again soon? I sure hope not! But if we have to do it again, we know who we will be calling.
