As a Realtor I find joy in the ability of helping others fulfill their dreams with homeownership. They say buying a home is the biggest purchase someone will ever make. I believe it's one of the biggest investments you will make in yourself. So let me lead you on the path to homeownership. I plan to guide you through the process with knowledgeable direction and feedback. Hi, my name is Laurie Smith, I have been a Huron Realtor for 8 years. My husband works for BNSF, we have 2 children. My son is a Freshman at Northern State University. My daughter is a student at Wolsey-Wessington High School. As a family we enjoy camping, bon fires and traveling across the states. My family is full of adventure where I'm more laid back. I enjoy a good book on vacation. Where they want to zipline, Atv, rock climb and seek adventure to all ends. My hobbies include doing puzzles, working in my yard and most importantly giving of my time through volunteer work. I have been a wish granter and fundraising coordinator for the Make A Wish South Dakota Foundation for 10 years. Currently I'm serving my 2nd term as the State Director for the Huron Board of Realtors. I have been on the Huron Board of Realtors board for the last 7 years, having held different positions. This year I decided to try my hands in a new board position. I joined the Huron Regional Medical Center Foundation Board. I'm also currently working with the Wolsey-Wessington School Accreditation task force. I enjoy volunteering for our local Meals on Wheels and Backpack program. My past successful board positions have not only included the local Huron Board of Realtors, but Huron Little League, Abate and the Coats for Kids program. I have been the Chairman and Co Chairman for the State Education Committee for the South Dakota Realtors Association. Been on the Committees for Finance and Legislation, MLS, Issues and Mobilization and Membership Services for SD Realtors. Served on the Sellers Property Disclosure task force. In 2013 I was awarded the Rural Dakota Pride Award. In 2014 I participated in the SD Realtors Leadership Academy. In 2015 I was presented the HBOR Rising Star award. In 2017 I was a graduate of the local Huron Leadership Program. Also, in 2017 I was presented the HBOR Realtor of the Year award. And my gold R coin for giving back to my community by volunteering. I have been an RPAC contributor all 8 years of my real estate career. As you can see I'm not only involved with my family and friends, but also my career and community. I find that we can all serve with our time and talents.
