Mike and his wife Tracy are the proud parents of 4 children and grandparents to 9 grandchildren. All of the family lives locally here in Santa Barbara. Kyle and his wife Kaylie are the parents of 2 children, Ellie (5) and Noah (2).
1. What advice would you give a buyer trying to purchase a home?
Start with these two things! 1) Contract with a reputable local real estate Broker and 2) Get pre-approved with a local mortgage broker or bank
2. What advice would you give a seller trying to sell their home?
Price your home right from the start and put your home in its best showing condition! Set aside emotional attachment and look at the most recent sales data and market conditions with the help of a reputable real estate Broker (ie Mike and Kyle!) to determine a competitive asking price.
3. What types of clients have you worked with?
Traditional Sellers and Buyers, Attorneys, Fiduciaries, Trustees, and Executors.
4. Describe a recent transaction you are fond of. How did it go?
We recently represented a Seller that was the appointed as Trustee for an estate. The trustee lived out of the state in Colorado and would not be present for the sale. They needed someone they could trust to be their "boots on the ground" and then prepare the property to market and sell. We oversaw painting, landscaping, handyman repairs, and staging. Once the property was live on the market, we had multiple offers within 1-2 weeks. Ultimately, we represented both the Buyer and Seller, as we had a client that contacted us from Pennsylvania looking for the ideal second home, and this was it! The entire process went off without a hitch from start to finish.
5. How did you get started in Real Estate?
Mike moved to Santa Barbara in the early 1970's on a sports scholarship to UCSB. He quickly fell in love with the area and discovered that real estate was his passion. He started his own independent brokerage in 1978 and has enjoyed 45 years of success representing over 1,100 clients. Kyle, his son, started in the family business circa 2011 after graduating from UCSB with a BA in Psychology. He inherited his father's integrity and passion for real estate.
6. Do you have any special education or training that will benefit your clients?
Mike and Kyle are both licensed Brokers. Mike has 45 years of experience and Kyle has 12 years of experience. Together they have represented over 1,100 clients over a career in more than $1B in sales. They are local homeowners with strong ties in the community. In addition to sales, Mike and Kyle oversee their property management division which manages more than 250 units of property in the area, which gives them a unique advantage in their knowledge of both traditional sales and rental property. They also have numerous relationships with local contractors, plumbers, electricians, painters, and more.

We rented a duplex in Montecito managed by this company and expected a higher level of professionalism given the $13,000 monthly rent. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The home was advertised as newly remodeled with brand-new heating and AC, but we later discovered there was no air conditioning at all aEUR" only heat.Maintenance was inconsistent and at one point the grass wasnt cut for over six weeks and grew up to our knees. When we requested more frequent service (once a week seemed reasonable), they refused. We also asked for a second garbage bin since there were two separate units on the property, but that request was denied as well. When the owner passed away, management informed us they wouldnt renew our lease because they were planing to sell. We understood and cooperated fully. They told us we could stay until the 3rd of the following month to complete our move aEUR" a gesture we appreciated aEUR" but then deducted those three days of rent from our security deposit without ever mentioning that would happen. We left the home spotless, even paying for professional cleaning and paint touch-ups on all walls. Despite that, they still took $600 out of our deposit for a few small scuffs on the ceiling aEUR" not even allowed for normal wear and tear. We paid on time every month and took excellent care of the property, but the way we were treated felt unprofessional and unfair.
