Who is.....Kristen Kyker?

I am an Abilieneian: As a 4th generation native of Abilene, my roots runs deep here. My lineage here is just a part of what makes Abilene so dear to me. I was born and raised in Abilene, graduated from Abilene Christian University, and married an "Abilene" boy. We love Abilene so much that chose to raise our beautiful daughters here.

I love my daughters: My daughters are my hobbies. J Their sports; Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Track & Cheerleading keep me busy in my free time but I would not trade it for anything. They are not only talented but they are caring, thoughtful (most of the time) and beautiful on the inside and out. I really could go on for days on all the reasons I am so proud of them and very lucky to be their mom.

I was a teacher for 12 years: This topic tends to get me on a bit of a passionate "Soap Box" so I'll try to be brief. As a high school special education teacher I got to work with some of the most amazing kids who I can honestly say taught me so much, if not more than I ever could have taught them. My kids struggled with reading, peers, home life, staying out of trouble, drugs, etc. and I loved them anyway! But as education became sterile and moved from creative learning to standardized testing, teaching went from students being responsible for their actions to teachers being held responsible for their students actions, and as schools went from intuitions for education to institutions for profit my heart moved away from education and I had to get out or lose my mind! Although I left the classroom I was able to bring many of my skills from my educational experience to my real estate career. I TEACH people about the home buying & selling process. I try to always make sure I'm educated, organized and prepared before meeting with clients. I get creative when I need to and can negotiate with the best of them. Most of all I care about my clients like they are family and dedicate myself to helping them reach that final goal.

I am a REALTOR: I feel so truly blessed to be able to go to work every day and truly say......I Love My Job!!! I've been learning about and been interested in real estate for as long as I can remember but didn't decide to make career out of it until a few years ago. The more time I've spent in real estate the more I realized how amazing my job really is. It has opened so many new doors for me and given me the opportunity to meet some of the most wonderful people. I am a "people person", I truly love getting to know my clients and have formed close bonds with many of them. This leads me to share one of my favorite stories. I met a couple at an open house who ended up having me sell their house in Roscoe so they could move to Abilene because the where adopting twin baby boys. Needless to say we spent a great deal of time together while selling their home, in one week I might add, finding them a new home quickly. A bond was formed and I was invited to come to the court on the official adoption day to celebrate. My favorite part though was after the official ruling and everyone was taking pictures. My clients called me up to take a picture with them and their sons and told everyone....this is our realtor!! It was on that day I truly realized you don't have to be in a classroom to I help people and impact lives. The thing is, just like my students, my clients tend to teach me as much if not more than I could ever teach them. I love that that I can honestly say I get to spend every day helping others realize the American Dream!!
