About Kay Owen

Originally from England, the states has been my home for 22 years. I have spent 20 of those years in Rocky Mount, so this is truly home and I know the area very well.

I am a big believer in home ownership. I bought my first apartment at age 19.

My previous careers have been in banking & interior design, which serve me well in my real estate career.

By nature I am friendly, understanding, loyal and patient. I have a husband of over 20 years, a teenage daughter and two dogs.

My wife and I requested a realtor who is well acquainted with the Rocky Mount market. She exceeded expectations. Moving to a community with which we had no knowledge, other than what we read, she was candid about sections on which we should focus. She made very thorough inspections of each property as we were not physically present. She identified flaws, and at times, excellent points a scan of the internet would not point out. She made demands to correct flaws in the negotiation phase. She treated us as if we were her only client, always punctually returning calls and checking out at least 15-18 properties for us. She gets an A+++. We have no criticism on any point.

Simply put, Kay Owen is a gem. My son was hunting for his first house in an area that was very new to him. We had the good fortune to cross paths with Kay after following up on a Zillow listing. It was immediately clear to us that Kay's warm personality, knowledge of the market and insight as to what might be worth investigating would be a great asset and we recruited her to help in our search. Once she got a sense of what my son truly wanted, she was able to find a property that 'ticked all the boxes.' He literally made one bid, which succeeded and closed within six weeks on a fantastic house. She helped manage pre-approval, mortgage financing, inspections, a legal team and many of the other details that can often feel overwhelming during this process. I am so grateful to the family member who recommended Kay. She is a jewel. Kay earned my confidence during our first meeting. She is diligent, patient, knowledgeable and so helpful. She knows her business very well and has a calm, reassuring demeanor. Two of the three property owners are employed, and one of them lives out of state. She was respectful of their work schedules and very patient with obtaining electronic signatures. She was responsive to questions and concerns that arose. Over the years Kay cultivated a network of people who can be helpful in her business. She gave me contact information for junk removal companies. I am a first-time young home buyer in my family and boy this was a scary process. Doubt after doubt after doubt I had racing through my mind trying to figure out "should I, could I, would I?"I'd prayed and prayed and prayed to talk myself out of this chapter of my life. Prayed: who should be my realtor? Where should I live? What if the realtor is only doing this for a easy paycheck because they know I'm new to this. Talking about this just bring tears of joy in my eyes. You don't offend across path with good people now of days, that push you outside of your doubtful and scary moments.
