After my mother passed away, I needed to quickly sell my property in Woodstock and relocate to a more affordable home. Unfortunately, I was not well versed in either the buying or selling process in real estate. My financial advisor (with whom I have a long and trusted relationship) recommended Karen Goins. Karen impressed me with her professionalism, experience and honesty as well as her ability to walk me through the process in a kind and understanding manner. Following Karen's advice, we worked for several weeks to get the house ready to put on the market which was no small task as this was taking place from Halloween through New Years. Once the house was ready to market, Karen and I developed a pricing strategy, and she went to work marketing the property. She arranged for a highly professional photographer to shoot the home and property, had an amazing sign installed (solar light worked all night long) and created a fantastic on-line listing plan. The home was only on the market for a few hours when an offer was made and Karen carefully reviewed the offer and all of the various details with me. The offer was better than we had hoped for, and I was allowed a 60-day window to remain in the home while arranging to purchase a new home. Karen recommended an excellent Real Estate Attorney; they worked out the details and set a closing date. Next Karen worked with me to find a more affordable home and went above and beyond as we toured dozens of properties in the Rockford and eventually the Freeport areas. Considering the distance of my search areas from her office in Algonquin it was quite an undertaking, but she made it so easy and relaxed for me. During the buying process I really came to appreciate Karen for her high ethics and honesty, as I found that not many agents have those qualities. Once we found a property which fit my needs and budget, Karen helped me make an offer and after it was accepted, she arranged for a highly professional inspection (which was highly accurate) and continued to guide me through the process. A closing date was set and again Karen guided me through the details and everything went smoothly. After about two months in my new home in Freeport, I couldn't be happier with my home, the neighborhood, the location and my new hometown. I cannot fully express my gratitude to Karen Goins for all of her hard work, skill, honesty and especially her empathy in making a very stressful time for me so much easier and satisfying. Starting with the introduction to Karen from my trusted financial advisor, each step in the process was handled with great care and professionalism. The professionals that Karen works with from the inspectors to her Real Estate Attorney are all first rate and like her they are people of honesty and integrity, which are rare qualities these days. I would highly recommend Karen Goins to anybody who is looking to buy or sell a property in the McHenry County area and beyond. Perhaps the single biggest quality which Karen has (and it is extremely rare) is empathy. We all hear a lot about empathy, but it is rarely if ever experienced. In many ways Karen has renewed my faith in people. God bless Karen Goins, I could never have made it through this process without her.
