About Joseph Himali
Joseph is in the top 1% of all agents nationwide in sales, but what separates Joseph from other agents is his extensive and detailed knowledge of the real estate industry (see below for details). He uses that knowledge and his analytical approach to the business provide his clients a more thoughtful and precise manner in which to buy and sell real estate.
For buyers and sellers he provides them with concierge-level service including making arrangements for moving, providing contractors to work on homes his client's sell and purchase as well as continuous follow up after settlement takes place.
As a native Washingtonian, Joseph has in-depth knowledge of DC's varied neighborhoods as well as the suburbs in Maryland and Virginia. Before becoming a REALTOR(R), Joseph was an entrepreneur who owned a chain of toy stores in Washington and suburban Maryland.
He served on the Board of Directors of Bright MLS for seven years (when it was known as MRIS).
In 2014 he was elected by his peers to be the President of the Independent Real Estate Brokers Alliance (IREBA), a not-for-profit organization that represents the interests of independent brokers from around the globe.
He was elected by his peers to be the 2009 President of the Greater Capital Area Association of REALTORS(R) (GCAAR), which represents 9,000 REALTORS(R) in Washington, DC, and Montgomery County. In addition, he previously served for seven years as a member of the board of directors of the District of Columbia Association of REALTORS(R) (DCAR). Further, he has served on the board of the Capital Area Realtor Federal Credit Union.
In 2014 and 2019 he received the "Master Networker" award from Who's Who in Luxury Real Estate. He received GCAAR's "Rookie of the Year" award in 1999 for having sold more properties than any other first year licensee in Washington, DC, and Montgomery County that year.
Joseph received special training in historic real estate through the National Trust for Historic Preservation In addition, he has earned both a "CRS" (Certified Residential Specialist) a highly regarded mark of distinction that less than 4 percent of all licensed REALTORS(R) in the world have achieved" and a "GRI" (Graduate REALTOR(R) Institute) designation, a benchmark that less than 10 percent of REALTORS(R) in the DC-metro area have earned.
