Second is have fun and take notes when you tour houses. Get a feel for what you really like and what will really work for you and your family. Third is don't be afraid of making an offer. I've had clients try and save $5,000 on the purchase price of a home they absolutely love against my advice only to be disappointed when a competing offer was chosen. The $30/month they were trying to save just wasn't worth it. Lastly understand that your realtor, mortgage professional and attorney work for you. Our job is to offer you advice and help you understand the process and the choices laid out in front of you but at the end of the day... You're The Boss!

Markets change, preferences of buyers change and spending money on a repair you won't see a strong ROI on can be money that stays in your pocket. Should some things be updated?
