The oldest of three children, Erin grew up in a well-respected family with strong community ties. Erin learned the importance of integrity and service to the community at an early age from her parents, John and Melanie McManus. John is a former Mayor of Lambertville and former President of the Lambertville City Council. Melanie, a retired school teacher and real estate agent, owned several businesses in Lambertville while raising their family first on George Street, and then on North Union. Melanie was an active member of the Lambertville Historical Society and the Kalmia Club, one of the oldest women's organizations in the state of New Jersey. John and Melanie chose to move to Lambertville in the mid 1970s before the city was dotted with antique stores, artist studios and galleries, and fine restaurants. It was a time when Lambertville was an industrial, blue collar town. Despite abandoned businesses and homes, they saw the greatness in Lambertville and potential for it to be better.
