About Doug Buenz

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I believe it is the best place to live in the world. I love the energy, and passion, and creativity, and the possibilities that the Bay Area and Silicon Valley embody. I attended Oregon State University, where I graduated with honors in Finance and Economics. I began my career in mortgage banking, and quickly gravitated towards investment real estate, where I sold apartment buildings & commercial property for almost 10 years. The knowledge and training I received was invaluable in helping me hone my real estate and negotiation skills, but I wanted something more. I wanted to have a more meaningful impact on people's lives. So in 1989 I began selling residential real estate, allowing me to use my skills and expertise while connecting with and helping people on a very personal level. Nothing is more fulfilling for me. As a result, I have helped hundreds of clients buy and sell homes in the Tri-Valley region. Training and Innovation I have focused much of my professional training on the art of negotiation. I attended the world renowned Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School, and hold a certificate from the Harvard Negotiation Institute. This prestigious program is popular with business and government leaders nationally and globally, and is regarded as the most powerful training in negotiation available. Just a handful of Real Estate Agents across the country have invested in their skill set and careers to this level and hold this advanced negotiations certification. I have built a reputation in the real estate community as innovator and early adapter in technology. I have written extensively about real estate both on my popular blog and in the local and national media. I have served on numerous industry panels, including the California Association of Realtors and the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing, I am a frequent speaker in my company training programs, and in local industry events. My Other Passions Real Estate is what I do, not who I am. I am the father of 2 awesome kids. In my free time I like to play music with a couple of local bands (yes we get paid to do it), work out, hike, and read about world events and politics online. I love pop culture (I often sprinkle pop culture references in my conversations). I love College football, and sports in general. I am very involved in the schools and the community, serving as President of the Athletic Boosters for the local high school. Doug was fantastic in selling our home in Pleasanton! His calm demeanor and clear confidence clearly has come from hundreds of transactions, which told us from start to finish, "he'd been there before", which set the tone for a smooth process. We knew we had a challenge in front of us as we'd tried to sell 6M earlier with another qualified agent however, when we began anew, Doug handled virtually ALL the details, from staging, marketing, the negotiation process - which was a bit complicated - and ensured we as well the buyer aligned for a positive experience. We are very pleased we selected Doug and would highly recommend him in listing your home as well; he even helped us make our move to our new home in town that much easier a well, and a rent back which we needed as this was a "big move", downsize.

We worked with Doug to sell my parents' home of 43 years. After years of seeing him successfully sell in their neighborhood, they had long planned to work with him when the time came to sell. The market has changed so much in the interim, but Doug did not disappoint. He convinced my mom to update her beloved traditional English style decor for modern buyers' tastes and wound up selling above asking. Doug easily connected us with all the expert contractors we needed, handled arrangements to update the house for us after we moved out of town, and facilitated a quick sale.

We were thoroughly impressed by the service that Rob and Doug provided. Their approach is very personalized and we felt that they genuinely cared about us, and our move. They really do go "above and beyond" Imagine my surprise when Rob told us we didn't need to take the day off of work to meet contractors, HE would take care of all of that for us. Robert was punctual, professional and reliable. Communication was also outstanding. We were always kept up to date on where we stood in the process of selling our home. Robert also had the additional task of helping us find our forever home, which was out of the area. He became an expert on the area (which had very little inventory) and made miracles happen, sending out postcards and meeting with local agents. His hard work paid off and we bought our dreamy, lakeside home! With Rob and Doug's stellar negotiating skills, we were able to sell our home and receive multiple offers over asking price! We recently had the pleasure of working with Doug and CJ to sell our home, and I cant recommend them highly enough. Some concrete feedback: 1. They are very data-driven. Early in the process, they would come armed with spreadsheets showing market comps, and would be able to speak in detail about each house on the market (even ones they were not representing). They helped us set a pricing strategy that balanced aggressiveness with realism. 2. Logistics: they coordinated everything from staging to photography with amazing precision. The marketing materials such as photos, video, copywriting, and listing website were top-tier and clearly stood out in a competitive market. 3. Responsiveness: every message, question, and concern was addressed quickly and thoroughly, no matter the hour. Ultimately, we sold our house in a very challenging market for a price we liked, and it was largely thanks to their efforts!
