About Donna Mason
Hello! My husband, Darel Mason and I are a team in real estate in the Kansas City metropolitan area and serve home buyers and sellers on the Kansas side of the state line as well as the Missouri side. As transplants to Kansas City, many years ago, me by way of California and Darel by way of Michigan to Missouri to New York to Montana, it took both of us a little while to get use to the geography of one little, big city in two different states! But we settled in, got used to the weather, met each other along the way, and have come to consider Kansas City one of the best places in the nation to call home!! We began our journey in real estate as investors starting in 2016. In December 2020, Darel made a career transition from his 30 year corporate career as a Logistics Sales and Project Consultant to be full-time in real estate as a real estate agent. In May 2021, I prioritized family over my career; making a decision to leave my 30 year corporate career (most recently in Human Resources) to be more available for supporting my mom through her dementia journey. At the point that my mom's dementia progress to stages that left us with no other options other than to move her to a residential memory care community, Darel's real estate volume was picking up, and he asked me to join him as a real estate agent. So, in January 2022, the step of becoming a licensed real estate agent helped us achieve our dream of working together! We love each other & our family, and what drives us is living out our faith & serving our community through real estate!! For many home sellers and buyers, home wouldn't be home without a beloved pet or two. When it makes sense for everyone (our clients, their pets, & us), we offer the additional, complimentary service of pet sitting to ensure our clients' pets are safe during open houses & home showings. The real estate market has recently been describes as a "hot market". I'm sure that you've heard stories of buyers making 4, 9, 14, & upwards of 20+ offers; losing out on what they hoped to be their future home to offers several thousand over the listing price. As a home buyer, we encourage you to plan & prepare; your strategy to be a competitive buyer, in any market, is to engage a lender (at least 3) & initiate the pre-approval process as soon as possible. DO NOT WAIT!! Even with rising interest rates (which are normalizing), to position yourself as a competitive, being pre-approved will be invaluable. Also, being pre-approved can help reduce the closing time by up to 7 days; and, at times a quicker closing can give you a competitive edge. But, keep in mind, that not every seller needs/wants to close quickly; so, flexibility can provide you just as competitive an edge. There's so much more advice to offer, but the key is don't loose hope.
