First, I came into the career with a lot of determination. I had been one of the top car salesman for a few different dealerships I worked for so I was very goal and results-oriented. I didn’t come in thinking I would get rich or that people would be lining up for my help, or even that I could do this part-time and still earn a good living. That’s just not the way the industry works. I was realistic that I had to go out and get the clients and I had to produce a benefit and generate loyalty. I guess you could say I was “hungry.” I learned everything I could, made friends with busy Realtors, and asked them if I could help, I volunteered for floor time, and I called everyone in my network. If I wasn’t working with someone I was on the phone looking for business, sending notes to people, or hosting an open house. I wore a nametag and never took the darn thing off. I wanted to be better than the realtors who assisted me in my personal home-buying process because they were terrible and I vow not to be that person.
