Dan graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. Upon college graduation, Dan commissioned through U. S. Army ROTC as an Infantry Officer. He lead an Infantry Platoon during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2005-2007. Dan's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star w/V, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Ranger Tab, Basic Parachutist Badge and an Air Assault Badge.
