We are the classic military family, bought a house during the real estate boon around 2005, left said house within two years for the next duty station, suffered huge financial setbacks from said house for one reason or another, then discovered 13 years later that the Army had no intention of ever letting us go back to San Antonio, TX. On a whim, I joined a San Antonio military spouses page to start gauging my options for selling the house when the Military Housing Network reached out to me with some ideas. Thanks to MHN for starting a conversation and helping me see there was a light at the end of the tunnel for my wayward home. At first, I was really nervous working with a realtor I never met before. I was essentially handing over the keys and a decade of investment to a total stranger. But Chuck and Karina Gafford from Keller-Williams Realty put my mind at ease. Chuck is a veteran himself who knows what it means to be in situations similar to mine and is well practiced in selling homes for customers who live out of state. I did some research beforehand on selling homes remotely and Chuck and Karina followed all the proper steps and warned me about wire transaction frauds and gave me their license numbers up front without prompting. Chuck updated me constantly with my options during every step of the home-selling process and Karina made sure that maintenance companies I hired to work on the home followed through and had access to what they needed. Selling a house wasnt easy, its just as difficult as buying one, but Keller-Williams knows what it means to be stuck between a rock and a hard place as a military family with an unwanted home.
