About Ben Burks

I have been involved with the Burks Team and real estate for over 20 years. I have been a license agent for over 15 years and now hold my brokers license. My family loves the Tyler area and have long established roots here. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2006 with a degree in Finance. In my spare time I love to watch Texas A&M football and invest in real estate. One of the great joys of my career is the opportunity to help people achieve their real estate goals.

In 2019 I was inducted into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame and was awarded the RE/MAX Lifetime achievement aware as a career accomplishment. Since joining the Burks Team I have had involvement in over 4000 transactions ranging from starter homes to commercial transactions.

I have been married for 15 years and we have 3 awesome kids plus our Vizsla.

After exploring Tyler, my husband and I decided we wanted to move here from the DFW area. We had been in our home for 27 years, so deciding to move was a very big deal for us! After reading Matt Cornelius' reviews online, we decided to give him a call. He spent a lot of time patiently answering all of our questions and invited us to his office for a mini class that he called "Tyler 101". This was a great introduction to Tyler! Matt's information and expertise were invaluable. He listened closely to what we were looking for in a home and lifestyle and asked insightful questions that helped him guide us in our search. In no time at all, we had found our dream home! And that is when things got complicatedaEUR| We made an offer, and ended up in a multiple offer situation. Matt helped us structure a competitive bid that kept the price within value and still pushed us to the top. We were thrilled when our offer was accepted over the others! And then things got more complicatedaEUR| During the inspection, we learned that the house had hail damage and needed a new roof and gutters. The home was being sold through an estate, and one heir was in another state and the other heir was in another country. Communication was complicated by time differences, and the sellers were daunted by the repairs that needed to be performed. Matt worked diligently to find a solution that worked for both buyers and sellers. Once he helped us settle on a solution for the repairs, closing the sale from 3 different locations was complicated as well. Matt stayed by our side day and night until he worked through all of the intricacies and brought our home purchase to a happy conclusion. We found Matt to be steadfast, trustworthy, and honest. He will do everything he can to help you find and purchase the home of your dreams even when it turns into a complicated endeavor!

Jim Storms of The Burks Team helped us find our new home. We were moving from another state, and had a limited time schedule. For 2 days he showed us quite a few homes, including the home we purchased. He listened to what we wanted and didn't waste our time. Thank-you Jim! The Burks Team has someone to help with a list of new utilities that are associated with each property: electricity, cable, garbage, etc... That was a huge bonus!

Jim Storms with the Burks Team was the realtor my husband and I hired when we were looking to buy a new home and he was truly a godsend. We had purchased our first home 5 years previously with a different realtor and it was a disaster; we eventually devolved into legal action with both the sellers realtor and our own. So when we hired Jim Storms after a recommendation from our lawyer, we were understandably nervous and cautious. However, Jim made all of our concerns and worries go away. He was patient, extremely thorough and readily available. Our experience with the all of the Burks Team has been nothing but phenomenal. We used them for selling our home, too, and the whole team has made sure everything goes smoothly even though our situation is unique and difficult. I wish there was a better way to recommend Jim Storms and the Burks Team because they deserve so much praise.
