ZillowVERIFIEDI recently had the most disappointing home buying experience with realtor Ashley. Initially, her high-pressure sales tactics reminded me of a car dealership, pushing me to make an offer on the very first house I viewed. Despite my reservations, I continued with Ashley, a decision I deeply regret. The home buying process was fraught with poor decisions and misleading advice. We made an over-the-market offer, which, in hindsight, was unnecessary and ill-advised. Furthermore, Ashley's failure to communicate effectively during the negotiation phase made me doubt whether our concerns ever reached the seller. The most significant issues arose post-purchase. The home inspector Ashley recommended overlooked critical problems that I've spent countless hours repairing, including extremely old and fragile plumbing in the attic, an oversight that led to a burst pipe, causing extensive flooding and resulting in thousands of dollars in repairs. Additionally, the insurance agent she suggested misinformed me about a required inspection, which led to my insurance being dropped on the very day I needed it most due to the flooding. Most likely, an errors and omissions claim will be filed against the agent as there is a very clear paper trail indicating the policy should have remained effective. Ashley's lack of professionalism extended to the leaseback period. My inability to directly contact the seller, due to Ashley's unwillingness to share their information, led to multiple communication failures. This resulted in unattended lawn maintenance, lack of ability for insurance to perform the inspection (which was the initial catalyst to cancellation) and issues with pool service access - all due to the previous owner leaving their dogs in the backyard - despite communication from me to my agent that various services we scheduled to arrive, further degrading the property's condition. Overall, Ashley's approach not only demonstrated a lack of negotiation skills but also a concerning disregard for my interests as a buyer. Her recommendations, from the home inspector to the insurance agent, were substandard, leading to a series of unfortunate events and additional expenses. In hindsight, I should have chosen a different realtor who could have provided a more reliable, transparent, and professional service.
